Popular routes next sailing and crossing time
How do ferry waits work?
There is no wait-time number like an airport. You wait for space on the next sailing, so the question is whether the next boat has room, which the board above shows.
How early should I arrive?
Off-peak, 10 to 15 minutes is plenty. For a Friday evening westbound run, be in the holding lanes 20 to 30 minutes early.
Do I need a reservation?
Only the San Juan Islands and Port Townsend routes take vehicle reservations. Everything else is first come, first served.

Schedule, vessel positions and terminal vehicle space come from the Washington State Ferries (WSDOT) API. Sailing times are today's published timetable; vessel and space readings are baked at the last rebuild, not a moment-by-moment counter. Nothing here is a wait-time estimate. Method →
